Colour vision deficiency, also known as colour blindness, is a common condition which affects around 8% of men and 0.5% of women. It is typically genetic in nature, and can cause a significant impact on identifying colours in daily activities. For certain occupations, such as electricians or Defence Force (Navy, Army) it may even be a limiting factor in future career progression while for children it may be the reason they have difficulty identifying shades of red or green, or confusion with colours in their drawings.

- Assessment of day to day vision, and detailed ocular health assessment to assess if there are any pathological causes of the colour blindness.

While there is currently no cure for colour vision deficiency, there are several treatment options that can help manage the condition. These may include:

- Prescription glasses or contacts: In some cases, prescription lenses can improve colour vision by altering the way light enters the eye.

- Vision therapy: This involves a series of exercises and activities designed to improve visual skills and function, which may help in cases of acquired colour vision deficiency involving stress.
